Big Trak is back

From bigtrakisback, 2010 is the year that the world's most well loved robot toy returns, with a 21st century makeover! Dubreq Ltd (creators of the famous Stylophone pocket synth) are bringing the Bigtrak back from the dead with a new line of robot space toys for the modern toy market. Based on the famous 1980's robot vehicle, the new Bigtrak range will use 21st century technology to expand and enhance the basic Bigtrak play concept of pre-programming a toy vehicle to perform a task.

Goodbye for now, my babies

My setup at the new house has no wall for these shelves, so I'm putting the MOC display in a big storage container for a while. The timing is actually good, as Zack was just starting to understand that he could have those things, and I don't want to be a dad who dangles toys in my kid's face and tells him he can't touch them. But still, I'll miss these spaceships. Especially when I have the urge to pick one up and fly it around the room (insert vocal space jet noises).

JLU Aquaman

As with the Super Powers collection, the DC Universe's lamest superhero actually makes for a decent action figure. The orange on this guy had just a tiny bit of shiny finish, which looked pretty neat; also he had those fins coming off the back of his calves, and the fashionable severe blonde flat top.

But that price! Ouch. To be clear, I'm not 100% sure it was on the right peg, and the price-checker couldn't read it. Given the bizarre range of DC figures out right now, I'm hoping there's some large-scale line I've forgotten about and the tag was for that, because that's a serious jump. Not an impossible one, unfortunately.

And here's the back. So it's good news if you never got a Barda (and I don't think I did), but did the fans really pick another Batman variation? That seems hard to believe.

I saw a single-carded Green Lantern that had a different set of five on the back, and the group included a single carded Deadshot. Still, at $8.99, I can't tell if that's good news.

LOLWUT?!: German 'Identify The LEGO Star Wars Minifig By Putting It In Your Mouth' Show

From geekology, This is a segment from some German variety show in which a unisexual teen identifies LEGO Star Wars minifigs be swishing them around in his/her mouth for a little while. Unfortunately, 4 out of 5 proper ID's isn't very good AND YOU WILL MAKE THE OLYMPIC MINIFIG IDENTIFICATION TEAM. Stick to Duplo, child!

Highly Impressive 'Crawler Town' LEGO Build

From geekology, This is 'Crawler Town', a rolling LEGO city built by Flickr user and skilled LEGOlier Dave DeGobbi. And, like Rome, it wasn't built in a day. OR SO THE HISTORY BOOKS SAY. They also don't mention alien subcontractors, but I have my doubts.

Crawler town roams the barren wastes of a post steam-punk world after cataclysmic climate change do to excessive coal use. Several such cities exist but Crawler town is the most popular due to the Aero 500 hydrogen fuel cell Air races that are held. Many people travel the wastes to Crawler town for vacation and to enjoy rare luxuries like Pizza, fresh vegetables and Beer. Travelling the wastes in search of minerals and aquifers ( vital for survival) the mobility of the city keeps it away from the vicious sand storms of the wastes
Good looking, Dave. Reminds me of the opposite of Water World. What would we call that, Land World? Mad Maxtopia? I dunno, but I do know the 2Pac video for 'California Love' is the shit. "As soon as I step on the scene, I'm hearin' hoochies screamin'." Oh yeah, I can relate. Wait -- are you bitches calling the cops?!

Some days you just find the right pine cone

I've had that Ichabod Crane figure for years (and it's been headless for years), and the other day I found this perfectly creepy pine cone. I attached it with hot glue.

Then late last night I posted it on Horrorthon with a completely arcane title. Using the "accented Latin" characters from my special characters palate, I composed a bit of weird nonsense. I've been hoping for a "what the fuck" from someone, but so far nothing.

Must have - new giant AT-AT on the way

From toplessrobot, Based on the success of their big-ass Millennium Falcon, Hasbro hinted they were going to make more big ticket items. How I hoped and prayed that would mean a big, badass AT-AT vehicle -- and, despite how much evil I inflict upon the world, my prayers seem to have been answered. This thing could come with a kick in the junk and I wouldn't hesitate for a second before spreading my legs and getting in the check-out line. The second a pic of this thing shows up, you guys send it to me -- and I'll post it about 35 seconds later.

Today, Hasbro, Inc. Cool SW figure - IG88 (concept art)

New Lego stuff out NOW! Buy two at TRU and second one is 1/2 off!

Smash n' Grab, twenty bucks

It's true! This is a good sale, considering what you might find. The signs here said it ran until the 5th. Important to note that Star Wars and Atlantis sets (among other, boring categories) don't count.

I've pictured the three new themes, all of which have new parts and minifigs. Smash n' Grab, above, comes with that cool Squidman repaint and the new Space Police helmet. Also, it's a great set. The jet-powered tow truck is an excellent design.

Rapid VPR, ten bucks

I snagged this one the other day and I'm very satisfied. This ship isn't as good a design as the purple space truck, but another super alien repaint and the new space helmet, plus some groovy parts, all at a good price.

Fire Blaster, ten bucks

Another nicely-priced set with some cool new parts (the smooth 4x4 dome!), a new rock monster design, and new power miner design.

I cannot stress the coolness of the new Power Miners minifig enough. The metallic helmets combined with the awesome visor (which in earlier incarnations was molded with a silly antenna on one side that is now gone), plus the silvery paint on the torso and legs make this dude slicker than slick.

Magma Mech, twenty bucks

I haven't really perused this one, but it has the same minfig coolness, plus a little more. This power miner also has a metallic body armor piece.

Monster Crab Clash, seven bucks

The Atlantis diver's helmets are another great new piece with lots of Lego connections on it. This is, however, the line I'll be waiting the longest to acquire. The set above is a good buy, you get the new minifig and six (six!) completely new black barb pieces (on the tips of the crab's legs).

Guardian of the Deep, fifteen bucks

I actually haven't seen this one yet.

Typhoon Turbo Sub, twenty-five bucks

Cool-looking ship, although from other angles it looks a bit sparce. Can't deny the groove thang of that shark-headed minfig, though.

Were I to recommend a specific purchase pack, I'd get Smash n' Grab and Fire Blaster (which would be half price), and the Monster Crab set (Atlantis doesn't count). Thirty-two bucks plus tax for some serious Christmas morning Lego awesomeness.

Mystery-Pack LEGO Minifigs Coming In 2010

From geekology, LEGO is going to begin selling single minifig mystery packs (blindboxes) sometime in 2010 in an attempt to get you to buy 20 of the same thing with the hopes of getting a ninja, robot, zombie and Mexican wrestler so you can stage THE MOST EPIC LEGO BATTLE EVER to take place on your bedroom floor.

The 30 Most Mind-Blowingly Strange M.U.S.C.L.E. Figures

From toplessrobot, Back in the 1980s, American kids hadn't yet fully experienced the wonderful madness of Japanese toy designers that would become more commonplace a decade or two later. One of the early tastes they got was the short-lived but popular M.U.S.C.L.E. toyline, a collection of little pink (and sometimes other colored) wrestlers that Mattel imported from the very bizarre Kinnikuman series in Japan. While Kinnikuman was an epic tale of galactic wrestling told through anime and manga, Mattel ditched the story, characters and even most of the references to wrestling to instead focus on the basic idea of MILLIONS OF UNUSUAL SMALL CREATURES LURKING EVERYWHERE!!! Kinnikuman would later be presented in a form closer to the original as Ultimate Muscle in the western world.
