There's a Han Solo in Carbonite RIGHT THERE, Grab It You Moron!

JPX unearthed this picture he took of me in 1985. This is me a few weeks into being 17 years old. There's all kinds of things to make fun of here, but nothing that stings more than the fact that this was the first and LAST time we saw the Power of the Force collection of Star Wars figs on the shelves. Except maybe how thin I am. Was.

About three figures to the right of my head there is indeed a Han Solo in Carbonite figure, hanging there with its puny 4 dollar price tag. Maybe less, I don't remember. Anyway, if you assume four bucks then the carded figure has enjoyed a three thousand percent markup. Dang!

Ah, where to begin on this! I could talk about this being a very "80s" picture. I could observe that, at the age of 16 when others were dating, we were still going to Toys R Us looking for Star Wars figures. Of course, this past weekend, at the age of age 36 we were in Toys R Us looking for Star Wars figures (Octopunk even purchased one). I might also talk about the future fortune behind Octopunk - all of those figures are worth a mint today. Sigh. I guess the most important thing to comment on is that, thank God, my picture wasn't taken as I'm certain I looked equally nerdy. Geez, even I want to beat Octopunk up when I look at this picture.

Beat me up? I'm packing major heat there! Those aren't modern day-glo toy guns, that was the day when they weren't afraid to send kids outside with black, realisitic play firearms. I'd have blown you away.

Did you really wear ties back then? NERD!

Sigh. Yeah, there's the photographic evidence. My stab at hipness was SKINNY TIES. I do believe the 80's were mentioned? Case closed.
