File under, "I just don't get it"

Okay, there are certain aspects of pop culture that I'll never appreciate (e.g., NASCAR, football, Jessica Simpson, reality television, etc). The ongoing popularity of Napoleon Dynamite baffles me. I remember popping the DVD in and watching this film stone-faced. I believe that I have a good sense of humor yet I did not crack the tiniest of smiles when watching Napoleon's antics. In fact, I found all of the characters to be grating and overall I found the movie to be depressing. I know, I know, I'm in the minority here. Here are the latest "action figures" from Napoleon Dynamite, enjoy!

I, on the other hand, started out not liking this flick and then I was surprisingly won over by it. It's likely one of those movies you shouldn't watch alone, like Showgirls (I know a lot of people who like to watch that flick in groups, but I screened it by myself and thought it was a waste of time).

Nevertheless, this is another good argument against making an action figure out of EVERYTHING. Really, who needs it?

And where's the chick? Did they short-pack the chick figure again?

That's a good point about "making an action figure out of EVERYTHING". I agree. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be. Remember on the Simpsons Marge says, "I didn't say you couldn't, I said you shouldn't" in reference to Homer wanting to deep fry his shirt?

I don't think I saw that one, but, as usual, the Simpsons offers a perfect parable for our discussion.
