Groovy Republic Gunship from Clone Wars cartoon

I'm just going to be a bit of a crank here and mention that I'm not super-fond of the Gunship design. I like their 'Nam copter presence, but I'm not so into their boxy butts and the angled-down wings. In my own forays designing spaceships with legos and other stuff, I've thought that sometimes angled-down wings are what you do when you can't think of anything else. I get that vibe from these wings.

I'm skating on this soap box because JPX has been gnashing his teeth over the state of the blog while we're stuck with only me able to upload pictures, and now only from home. So I get to say stuff, is what I say. And despite all the stuff I just said, I think this Clone Wars gunship kicks ASS, because transporting the paint job from a WWII Spitfire is mad cool.

Nice catch with that WWII Spitfire comparison - how the heck did you find that? You don't know anything about military junk. Oh wait, that's me.

I had this sturdy metal toy of a Spitfire when I was a little kid. It was orange for some reason, but my Dad pointed out that they were the planes that had faces painted on them. When I was hunting up this picture I discovered there was another WWII plane that was more commonly painted this way, but I held out for a pic of the Spitfire.

The WWII planes were meant to be painted like the faces of a shark. I wonder what animal the Republic Gunship is emulating. A gundark?
