My setup at the new house has no wall for these shelves, so I'm putting the MOC display in a big storage container for a while. The timing is actually good, as Zack was just starting to understand that he could have those things, and I don't want to be a dad who dangles toys in my kid's face and tells him he can't touch them. But still, I'll miss these spaceships. Especially when I have the urge to pick one up and fly it around the room (insert vocal space jet noises).

Goodbye for now, my babies

I often think that it must be surreal for Ben and Zack to have us as fathers. Both will never know a time when their homes weren't filled with (their dad's) massive toy collections. Ben is just now starting to get into Star Wars figures and he's been eyeballing my collection. I comfort him by telling him, "Some day all these will be yours". What I don't say, of course, is, "After I"m dead!" Over the weekend Ben insisted on watching Episodes 1-3, insisting that they are better than 4-6. We argued about it a lot.
Wow, what's the basis of his argument? I have a hard time thinking of reasons even a kid would champion.
Sigh. Something about clones being more interesting than rebels, blah blah blah. I think he does it to get my goat. When I woke up on Sunday morning I found a Jar Jar mini-figure by my bedside taunting me.
