My favorite Super Powers figures

I love this Shazam figure, just look at that shit-eating grin! He's basically like, "Yeah, I'm all powerful, but I don't focus on that, what'd you guys do this weekend". One of the best things about the Super Powers line is how colorful it is. If you look at the Star Wars line, for example, you get a lot of dark blues, grays, black, or pure white. The Super Powers line is chock full of every color under the rainbow. Displayed together they make a handsome presentation. I also love this Cyborg figure, although I rarely handle mine because loose he's worth upwards of $200. There was an inferior version made in Spain that chipped very easily.

I have one of those inferior ones! I even have its card. The worst thing about him is his head, one unpainted piece of extruded "metallic" gray plastic, no chrome plating, no red eye, nothing.

I'm not even sure if I still have it. I had a small container of things to make molds of when I worked at Deathmatch. My plan was to cast Cyborg's head and have it chromed, then paint on the proper skin, etc. The whole container of stuff vanished (it was under my desk and fell in the trash).

The weird thing is, I may have had two of the crappy things at the time, I forget. I feel like I still have one, but it would be in storage in Warren.

And yeah, Captain Marvel's grin is the best thing about him. The first one I saw in real life was at one of those crappy Providence Holiday Inn conventions. He had no cape, so I didn't get him, but I saw that grin and fell in love.

I snagged CM and Red Tornado together at that November convention you guys like (except last year).

You're right about the colors, too.

Really? I knew you had an inferior one, but I was certain that you also recently acquired a regular one. Cyborg was one of those painfully expensive purchases I've made over the years (Yak Face and the AT AT were two others). It stung at the time but now I'm so happy I pick him up. I lucked into it quite by accident. I happened to be at Toy Vault one day and sopme guy sold his entire Super Powers collection off (the fool!)

Oh, I picked up a legitimate one off eBay when you and I were going through our "my life sucks give me toys" phase of 2003. He's in great shape and I love him. That's why I'm so fuzzy on where the other one is, if I have it, it's in my vast "ditch" pile.

Ah, 2003 was certainly a bummer of a year, but we got some good toys! You Must take a picture of the foreign and regular Cyborgs standing next to eachother - I'm really curious.

I'll be heading east in April, that's the earliest I can dig the sucker out.

I forgot: the reason Capt. Marvel's grin is so cool is that it's based on the fact that CM is really just a kid. So he's all "yay, I'm a superhero!"
